Dubliner Shobsy shares his new single "Vanity," a versatile potrayal of self-obsession, clinging on to classic 80s pop melodies and embellishing them with glimmering vocals.
Embodying the narcissistic male trope, Shobsy delves into excruciatingly painful self-obsession that sees portraits being painted ready to be hung on the wall for many to admire. It's a sleek critique of today's world, where social media players showcase their best selves only to waiver their privacy further just so we can consume every single detail of their lives. "Lyrically the song deals head-on with the concept of vanity and self-obsession in an age where social media becomes an increasingly integral part of our lives," says Shobsy. This take on society's obsession with edited content within the online world makes for a multicoloured pop banger, dripping in riveting falsetto and exotic stylings.
Previously the lead vocalist of rock group State Lights, "Vanity" is the debut solo single from Shobsy. And I'm sure we're going to be treated to more synth-powered bops throughout the rest of the year.
