Toro Gato questions unbalanced relationship dynamics in "White Flag" [Video]

Toro Gato, the alter ego of experimental artist and actress Kat Graham, just released her new video for "White Flag" which is from the singer's new NFT project entitled Toro Gato Part II. Best known for her former role in CW's The Vampire Diaries, the television actress turned singer-songwriter created this alternate persona to portray the duality of her existence, as she embraces both the light and dark sides of her personality.

In "White Flag", the singer reflects on push and pull relationship dynamics that is highly relatable in today's relationships. In the song, pushes her partner to the edge, testing his love and commitment while she heals something deeper inside herself. Featuring unabashedly honest lyricism, sweeping vocals, and immersive electronic meets R&B dipped soundscapes, the song is both discomforting and soothing at the same time, falling in line with the overall concept of her new project which represents juxtapositions and other contrasting elements that need both recognition, acceptance, and healing.

According to Graham, “From the beginning of this project I knew that everything from the sound, to the visuals to the execution, to the release required a different way of thinking. I wanted to take my music to a different level that felt artistic, vulnerable, ethereal and cinematic." In the video, Graham is seen wandering in a desolate desert, empty and alone, as she questions her ideals of love.

Toro Gato is a genre-defying artist who seeks to push boundaries and challenge the status quo. Her latest project is an NFT release, available exclusively via the NFT marketplace YellowHeart. Drawing inspiration from out-of-the-box thinking power houses such as FKA Twigs, Portishead, and Massive Attack to name a few, she is definitely a rising artist who falls in the same vein as these other abstract and imaginative creatives.

Check out Toro Gato's "White Flag" via YellowHeart for more and to listen to her full project.
