Emerging Chi-town artist Mvte caught our attention with this insightful tune titled "Piggy Bank," a mellow and somewhat sparsely arranged track that dives into the stress that comes with financial hurdles and the power of hope and dreams. Mvte has a way with her words and beautifully breaks down her financial woes in the most captivating and hilarious way that she can. From wishing on things she could buy to not being rewarded accordingly after working hard, she has to resort to wishing on her piggy bank as she did as a kid. Her style is reminiscent of Dej Loaf only in terms of the melodic flow but Mvte stands out for being more fun-loving and cheerful with her lyrics and cadence.
The visual for "Piggybank" is self-directed and shot by Mvte herself in her room. She made use of a green screen, an iPhone8 Plus, and an iMovie app to bring the song to life. She doesn't take herself too seriously and makes do with simple performance shots, retro-styled aesthetics, and colorful motifs to get the job done. It only goes to show you the power of her creativity and willingness to use what she has to achieve her goals.
