Veteran artist Kramer teases upcoming album with emotive lead single "The Crying"

Bassist, multi-instrumentalist and veteran musician Kramer teases forthcoming album And the Wind Blew It All Away, his first solo LP of completely original material since 1998, with emotive lead single “The Crying.”  The atmospheric track underpinned by echoey vocals and soft, layered instrumentals feels like a lullaby before the heart-wrenching lyrics catch up to you.

Drawn from various instances of hurting from failed collaborations and repeated estrangements from his daughter to the isolation of the pandemic, the track is cynical, the poignant lyrics, ‘This is what you get for trying; crying til the crying sets you free,” striking painfully at the most sensitive parts of our soul as it laments the despairing moments when all love feels lost to you.

Tinged with hopelessness and frustration even as the lilting sonics bring comfort to you, the track offers a glimpse of the album, produced and recorded entirely alone in his home studio in South Florida, which comes alive as a symbol of the turmoil in Kramer’s mind and his bleak reflections through sound and song.

Tapping into the experimentation that has always formed the basis of his artistry, “The Crying,” marks a return for the versatile artist who has already triumphed with the second coming of one of his most enduring achievements, the Shimmy-Disc label.
