Indie pop artist Blanks always seems to be with the times, finding fame on all the most popular social media platforms. Since launching a YouTube channel in 2013, Blanks has been producing his own music and reproducing popular songs like Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” and Post Malone’s “Better Now”. All his hard work has granted him with over a million YouTube follows and millions of views on TikTok. Today, he releases the fourth single, “Never Have I Ever”, off his upcoming album.
Even if summer is coming to an end, it’s never a wrong time to feel the vibes of a summer bop. “Never Have I Ever” starts off like a video game, complemented well with Blanks’s quick and higher-pitched style of singing. The chorus soars, decorated with retro synths and chanting, anthemic lyrics. “I guess it was a combination of Scandinavian music magic, Maldives good vibes and excitement!” says Blanks. The music video, especially, feels like a teenage dream with friends on a road trip.
Blanks expanded more on that idea, saying, “Never Have I Ever” is a song for the people in your life that get you excited, make you try new things, make you feel alive.”
