Brisbane artist Wastemall drops single “Glaciers" featuring singer Jude York

Brisbane based producer and visual artist Wastemall drops energetic single “Glaciers,” featuring singer and songwriter Jude York, one half of The Beamish Brothers. With a minimal yet punchy soundscape rooted in the lilt of melancholic synths, the track is an emotive offering elevated by soft York’s vocals.

Reflective of the multi-talented artist’s journey of personal growth, “Glaciers,” is a moody but soothing offering that brings together catchy sonics with thoughtful lyricism painting vivid pictures of romance. Written by York, the song imagines an icy heart, weaving a tale of the distance that settles in after the passion of new love fades, delivering a painfully relatable narrative calmed by an ethereal instrumental.

With an accompanying video, created by Wastemall, which brings alive the songwriting through transportive landscapes, the production is a winning combination of artful visuals and earworm sonics. Speaking of his involvement in the track, Jude York says, “This song came about when Wastemall’s label sent me the track amidst a bunch of other instrumentals. The bones of what would become Glaciers instantly hooked me. Honestly, the song just poured out once I had the concept in mind.”

Booming and fit for the dance floor but just as intimate, the electro-influenced track which marks the artist’s first release of the year leans into the classic immersive artistry that he has developed since kicking off his career last year with his debut EP Don’t Tell Me.

With a loyal following who have been hooked by his atmospheric, intricate musicality and intellectual lyrical themes, "Glaciers," is one more indication that Wastemall is a thrilling act that is on a quick rise.
