French producer and songwriter Michael Calfan has recruited the vocal talents of Gabrielle Aplin for the powerful new house summer anthem "Imagining". The duo combine harmoniously on a track that’s rich with the energy of those ready to dance together again and is available now on all streaming services.
Building from a soulful breakdown, the track cuts out for a bar ahead of the drop. We’re then treated to a pulsating bassline and two-step groove, providing the foundation for Aplin’s infectious hook.
Since being discovered by French electronic music staple Bob Sinclair in 2008, Calfan has built and maintained momentum in his output of house anthems, always putting the music before any ego-centric ambitions. Releasing regularly with Spinnin Records, his 2015 hit "Treasured Soul" introduced the world to his emphatic, house-pop productions.
He’s also had worldwide hits including "Nobody Does it Better" and his collab with Martin Solveig "No Lie". Since then, he’s remixed the likes of Calvin Harris, Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, Labrinth, Not3s and Glowie and his touring schedule has taken the French producer around the globe.
Working alongside a powerhouse in the UK pop scene, songwriter Gabrielle Aplin has showcased her artistic diversity over the last decade. Known for her chilled, off-kilter pop – she regularly collaborates with artists in different genres, finding new fans and pushing herself far out her comfort zone. The collaboration points to the pop songwriters long-standing love of electronic music, following her collaboration with TSHA on Ninja Tune. The couplings' new single "Imagining" is a prime example of this sort of collaboration with Aplin’s vocal range working seamlessly within the production.
