LEEPA navigates the breakdown of friendships on "I'm sorry, are you?" [Video]

Despite being only 21-years-old (what!!), German artist LEEPA shares the incredibly thought-provoking single "I'm sorry, are you?". It's a single about friendship, not love, and it's a relatable ode to the breakdown of a friendship.

Navigating friendships this year has been a weird one. It's been a balance of putting in effort but also respecting your own boundaries and giving yourself space. Somehow, LEEPA captures this with such ease. Narrating with sweet vocals, layering them upon a guitar-fueled backbeat that gets you drumming the air, "I'm sorry, are you?" is an anthemic tune that feels '00s pop-punk but with Gen Z intimacies.

"Losing friends can be more painful than losing a partner – especially when the friendship has broken down due to circumstances that are no one's fault," explains LEEPA. "Even though time passes, distance prevails and life moves on at a brisk pace, one always mourns a true friendship. One may regret something or the longing may wear one down – but some people you have to love from a distance."

LEEPA's releases are always playfully energetic, tracks that are filled with indie traits and curiosity that aligns with hypnotic allure. "I'm sorry, are you?" is the most beautiful ode to the complexities of friendship. Does LEEPA wanna be our friend too?
