Emerging UK rapper J-Onyx comes through with the visual for her introductory single "Can’t F With" which showcases her pen game to the fullest. She makes mincemeat of the moody and crunchy production to get her point across as she is poised to be the next best thing on the scene. Her confidence and demeanor for a newcomer are sky high and she can easily hang with the best with the way she commands the microphone and our attention with her deep tone.
The visual adds a nice touch to her branding and imagery as she is yet to unveil her true identity and prefers to be masked at all times. This, however, doesn't hinder anything like the director uses this air of mystery as a visual enhancer. The cinematic aesthetic pays much attention to her movements and costumes which play on her anonymity. There are a lot of quick-cut scenes and angled performance shots that make it quite engaging.
J-Onyx burst into the scene in late 2019 when she uploaded a freestyle on IG and that led to a floodgate of events. Another of her freestyles "Murda Murda" was picked up by DJ Shortee Blitz and DJ MK on the KISS FM Hop Hop show and she hasn't looked back since. For those that don't know she was always around music since a child and her uncle was a member o the legendary UK reggae band UB40. Choosing to keep her identity concealed, for the time being, J-Onyx wants to let her music do the talking, as often young female artists can be over-sexualized in the music industry.
