Odd Future affiliate and West Coast MC Dirtbagjack share the new single "Dirtnap" in lieu of his upcoming LP. The Hawthorne, CA, native goes for a somber and reflective tone on the track as he explores real-time issues and how they affect him on a personal level. From police brutality, gun violence, and more, Dirtbagjack takes us deep into his hometown with vivid illustrations of his life over a moody production. He opts out of using gimmicky hooks and delivers straight bars that linger in the ears for a while.
For those who may not be familiar with the rapper, we feel "Dirtnap" is the perfect re-introduction to the artist who is making a re-entry into the music game. The LA native burst into the scene in 2011 with his debut album One Up which boasts production from Tyler, the Creator, and has since worked with several OF members doing live shows and events. "Dirtnap" is his first release since he took a hiatus from music after his 2015 Dirtbag EP. The single is the focus track off his forthcoming eponymously titled project Dirtnap.
