Emerging Afropop singer/songwriter Kholi shares the focus track, "Body Language," which caught our ears with its summer-tinged sensual vibe. The Lagos-based singer may be slightly green in the game, but his mellow melodic style and knack for blending catchy harmonies and easy-to-follow lyrics says otherwise. Backed by a bright, groovy backdrop, Kholi centers his focus on the lady that caught his heart and proceeds to woo her in his own distinct manner. He seamlessly switches from English to Nigerian broken English on this one and even flips a little patois inflection into the mix. The production is superb as well and shines with lively electric guitars, atmospheric synths, and a gripping drum groove to match.
"Body Language" is taken from his latest project, Stones To Diamonds, a 9-track body of work that blends the worlds of R&B, Afropop, and some Caribbean elements. The opener, "ONE," relies more on R&B vocal stylings while "DLM" ramp things up with dancehall-infused melodies with an electrifying guitar-laden backdrop. Other interesting cuts include "GAMBLE" with its anthemic horns and the party-ready Amapiano vibes of "LEX RHYTHM." Kholi has always been a music lover since a tender age and even taught himself how to play musical instruments, including the keyboard and drums.
