RALPH enchants fans with disco-track “Love Potion”

Hot Girl Summer starts with disco-pop artist RALPH. With just five singles out, she’s collected hundreds of thousands of Spotify listeners, and even launched her own record label Rich Man Records last year. Talk about a girl boss. Today, RALPH shares the second single from her upcoming GRADIENCE EP called "Love Potion," with a music video to match.

Fans of MARINA or Dua Lipa are likely to gravitate towards RALPH’s effervescent house-meets-pop productions. “Love Potion” is the perfect disco track with its four-on-the-floor groove blended with driven-guitars and reverbed synths. Her pal Herag Sanbalian added the orchestral voices and live strings, really making the track pop even more. The retro-feel will remind some of 60s and 70s icons like Cher and Donna Summer.

RALPH says that the song stemmed from the imagery and love potions seen in the 2019 film Midsommar. From then on, she says, "I was deep in a google hole of "history of love potions." […] I came into the session with that as my lyrical inspiration, and pretty soon we wove a dance-y, bass-soaked story of a woman afraid she's loving her lover…so she cooks up a brew to remind him just how sweet she is.”

Unlike the bright, floral images of Midsommar, the music video blends space and Y2K vibes, making for an enjoyable watch. RALPH adds, “I love that everyone really went it for when we said 'BIG, WEIRD AND BEAUTIFUL.'"

Along with her upcoming EP due July 7, RALPH also announces a November Canadian tour with support from Alex Porat.
