Born and raised in Kenya, the now Maryland-based tg.blk is a strikingly versatile product of the underground hip-hop scene. A gifted rapper and lyricist, the appeal of the up and coming lyricist so far in her young career is the ability to generate memorable hooks and verses on very abbreviated runtimes.
"Love Being Used" is a short track and may not fully register at first playthrough. However, as soon as you hit the replay button, the harmonic and lovelorn voice of tg.blk layered over the haunting, sample-driven beat by baileydaniel creates something that is nothing less than magic. Showing off an impressive penchant for songwriting, brilliantly written lines come to life with clever intonations that keep a steady flow and pace to the track. Regarding the song, tg.blk had to say, "This girl I was seeing at the time was really hot and cold with everything and I constantly felt disposable to her. I knew this but I ignored it until the cycle repeated itself and eventually we split up."
Able to deliver music that fits on polar opposite ends of the energy spectrum, tg.blk can craft the eccentric, muted flow of an Earl Sweatshirt just as easily as she belts out memorable and melodic hooks reminiscent of Tierra Whack.
