Award-winning Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has come a long way since he started as a duo with Kru Kid in the early 2000s. With a handful of solo projects and collaborations with acts like Burna Boy, Erykah Badu, Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and the late legendary drummer Tony Allen, the emcee is still waxing stronger than ever. His recent release is titled "No Fear" which sees him working with Chi-town emcee Vic Mensa and emerging Afropop singer Moliy. As the title suggests, it's about taking charge of one's affairs and grabbing the bull by the proverbial horns in order to push towards one goal.
Bolstered by the moody and pounding backdrop, the acts each give the listener their unique viewpoints: from Mensa's no-holds-barred flow, M.anifest's laidback multi-lingual lyrics to Moliy's silky melodic vocals. The visuals are done by Guto Bussab who helps bring the theme to the forefront from a scenic perspective. Each act gets their own respective visual motif and the use of smooth cut scenes help tie things together.
Quick info for those that may not know, M.anifest is the grandson of the late Prof. J.H Nketia, one of the leading ethnomusicologists and composers in Africa. It's clear the talent for music runs deep.
