Awkward Z is feeling "TRAPPED" on his new single

Anomaly Collective maintains it's grip on the nation of Ireland with the release of Awkward Z's new track "TRAPPED".

After the release of his debut EP What's Next? in 2019, Awkward Z was set to have a breakout year in 2020. Unfortunately, like most artists, the pandemic put a pause on those plans. This didn't stop the Waterford native dropping off both "Fuego" and "Directions" last year, both records being well received by his fanbase and critics alike. Now with the nightmare that was 2020 firmly in the rearview, Awkward Z is back and his new single "TRAPPED" is a true highlight of the 2021 so far.

Awkward Z flexes his more melodic side on this track. The cadences and melodies are completely in pocket and this evident on the chorus which is the real high point of the record. He briefly switches to his more rap heavy side at certain points on the track and these, while fleeting, are also of an extremely high level. The production is built around a very interesting acoustic guitar loop. This is complimented and surrounded with hard hitting drums and heavy 808's to create this acoustic trap sound. Overall, the record is tight, compact and stylistic with Awkward Z proving once more how special he truly is.

Awkward Z has been a shining light in the Irish scene since he arrived in 2018. He has grown and matured as an artist and he is continuing to grow with each release. "TRAPPED" is a statement of intent so don't expect to see Awkward Z disappear anytime soon.
