Here is a collaboration that most of us probably didn’t realize we needed. The singer-songwriter, producer, and visual artist Alewya has teamed up with fellow Londoner and drummer extraordinaire Moses Boyd for the stirring new single “The Code.” As the world ground to a halt in 2020, these two artists joined forces, combining their diverse influences for a unique sound on the single, which is accompanied by a video trilogy of live sessions featuring the track.

“The Code” has a brooding quality to it, with an ominous chord progression beneath Alewya’s thoughtful lyrics. In a press release, she describes the track as an examination of one’s shadow self, offering a depiction of our collective strife or, as she calls it, “an intense dark night of the soul.” Along with her hauntingly stylish vocal delivery, Boyd’s signature drum sounds pop in the mix, giving the track an organic, visceral element that elevates the energy. With the dynamic chemistry between two formidable artists on display on “The Code,” here’s hoping for more music from Alewya and Moses Boyd in the future.

"The Code" is out now via Because London Records and is available to stream or download here.
