The last time we heard from a Nigerian/British singer Tamaraebi waslast year when he shared the video for his song "Heavens Gate." The London-based musician however has been working hard in the studio and currently preparing to release a new EP Spectrum. In the interim, he shares the video for the lead single "Brown Angel" where he channels elements from funk and experimental R&B/soul. Backed by punchy drums, lush guitar arrangements, and ethereal textures, Tamaraebi delivers a sultry performance with his signature falsetto and subtle sensual demeanor. The track talks about hooking up with someone who is in a relationship and details the weird love dynamics between the two. The singer plays the proverbial Brown Angel in the story whose aim is to please.
For the visuals, he teams up with director Tatenda Jamera who goes for an eclectic visual style while paying homage to black art. It makes use of long performance shots, psychedelic visual aesthetics, and the use of black bodies as vessels representing the power of their roots. It has a mix of the old and new with Blackness being the central motif. "Brown Angel" is taken from Tamaraebi's forthcoming EP Spectrum scheduled to drop in May. The project sees him working with FloTheProducer, All About She, and Eddie Serafica.
