Jan Metternich has shared a new single entitled “Dead End”.

Jan Metternich is an up-and-coming artist from Germany. Metternich plays guitar, sings, raps, and produces his own beats, and  first began making music at six years old, and released his first single in 2019. He gained wider recognition for his 2020 single “Wrong”, a melodic hip-hop banger that eclipsed 1 million streams on Spotify. “Wrong” features an intoxicating hook and rumbling bass- it is undeniably catchy. Since the success of “Wrong”, Metternich has released a string of captivating singles, including his latest one “Dead End”.

"Dead End" is a bittersweet, nostalgic song. The instrumental features dreamy guitars and whimsical keys. Buttery smooth 808s rumble beneath the guitars and keys, and clean drums lock in the rhythm. Jan Metternich provides melancholic vocals with drifting melodies over top of the instrumental. The song essentially reminisces on a soured relationship, themed around moving on to a better situation.

Overall, “Dead End” is a solid offering from a young up-and-coming artist. This melodic pop-rap release is reflective, featuring beautiful, somber instrumentation. Considering the fact that Jan Metternich is only 17 years old, it is safe to assume he has a bright future ahead of him in music.
