UK electronic band Morcheeba are still pushing their brand of progressive music and have been around since the mid-90s. With nine albums under their belt and a 10th on the way, they kick off the year with a brand new single "Sound Of Blue" alongside a stunning video. The band circle back to their beloved original sound on this somber and pulsating track about being free and rising about personal struggles.
Lead singer Skye Edward takes charge with her commanding sultry vocals and empowering lyrics that follow the journey of rising from the ashes. Her silky voice is bolstered by Ross Godfrey's moody and atmospheric production ripe with swirling synths, smooth guitars, and a punchy groove to match the emotional ebb and flow. The record is birthed from Edward's personal experience of freediving in Thailand where she found a renewed strength and confidence beyond the restrains of external forces. The video is directed by Martin J Pickering who makes use of engaging visual tricks that tie into the ethereal mood of the song. Edward is also portrayed as some sort of water entity basking in her element and looking radiant as ever.
"Sound Of Blue" is taken from Morcheeba's forthcoming 10th studio album Blackest Blue due May 14th , 2021. Get the single on all digital platforms here.
