Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog have shared a laid back new collaborative project called Tha Wolf on Wall Street.

For Tha Wolf on Wall Street, Tha God Fahim collaborated with fellow lyricist Your Old Droog. Your Old Droog is a New York rapper who rose to prominence through Soundcloud in the mid-2010’s. Initially, his rapping was so technically proficient that he was mistaken for Nas by listeners. A rumor began to spread online that Your Old Droog’s debut project was a secret Nas project. However, this myth was debunked when Your Old Droog revealed his identity and released a follow up album. Since then, he has built a strong following through high quality albums featuring intricate lyricism.

Tha Wolf on Wall Street kicks off with the confident, relaxed “Bidness”. This track finds Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog rapping effortlessly over a hazy, jazzy instrumental. The instrumental features elegant piano chords and warm, smooth saxophones. Next, the title track “Tha Wolf on Wall Street” showcases Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog flowing smoothly over textured drums and plucky bass. Mellow Rhodes piano chords drift over top of the rhythm section. Album highlight “Tha Poverty Bothers Me” features a beautiful, nostalgic instrumental. The track features ethereal vocal samples echoing over top of bittersweet strings. The meditative “Value” is another album highlight. It features creeping bass and cloudy electric piano chords. The instrumental succeeds in creating a contemplative, pensive feeling. Lastly, album closer “Stones N Rocs” is one of the album’s grittier tracks. It features a minimalistic, dark instrumental that creates a sinister atmosphere. On “Stones N Rocs”, Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog deliver some of their most focused verses on the album.

Tha God Fahim is a rapper and producer from Atlanta, Georgia. He is a dual threat, both rapping and producing his own beats. Tha God Fahim got his start producing for Chicago rap group The Freshmen. Eventually, he became known for his prolific album releases, with over 50 albums under his belt. He gained recognition for his unorthodox style and intricate lyricism.

Overall, “Tha Wolf on Wall Street” is a dark but relaxed offering from Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog. The album finds Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog effortlessly flowing over jazzy, smooth instrumentals. Together, they seem to have natural chemistry. Let’s hope that they collaborate more in the near future.
