Fresh off the release of his sophomore album L.A., German producer Tensnake is back with a trilogy of music videos for tracks off of the album, each to tell a love story that takes place in Los Angeles. If you haven’t heard Tensnake’s new album yet, you’re in for a treat. It’s packed with all the synth pop, house, and nu-disco your heart desires, and also carries a sound that reflects an ode to Tensnake’s adopted hometown of L.A. in California. Single “Somebody Else,” which features UK artist Boy Matthews, kicks off the music video series and introduces us to this tale of love.

“Somebody Else” serves as the opening track to L.A. and it’s the perfect beginning to both the album and this video series. The billowing melodies and spacious production of “Somebody Else” along with Boy Matthews’s emotive performance were destined for a tale of love. The video, directed by A.J Gomez of Groovy Chaos, follows two girls and their special bond. Of course no matter how perfect things seem on the outside, it’s complicated.

As the opening track of L.A., “Somebody Else” has a laid-back pace combined with an atmosphere of pulsating synths and fleeting top layers. They come together to create an addicting and contagious energy that hooks the listener and pulls them in for the rest of the ride. One thing that has always stood out when it comes to Tensnake is his masterful use of momentum within tracks. His art of builds, breaks, juxtaposition, and ability to create dynamic highs and lows within a single track is genius. It made early tracks like “Coma Cat” become classics and it's what makes “Somebody Else” so easy to love.

Tensnake’s album L.A. is out now, available to stream and download. Be sure to follow along for the next part to our L.A. love story. Tensnake will be sharing new installments of music videos to close out 2020.
