Seba Kaapstad is an amalgamation of multi-cultural musicians, a South African, a Swazi, and 2 Germans to be precise. Lead by the vocal talents of Ndumiso Manana and Zoe Modiga while the duo of Sebastian Schuster and Philip Scheibel craft the soundscapes, the group aims to bring the world their unique blend of jazz/soul/hip-hop garnished with African musical elements. Their newest release "Konke" serves as the title track for the group's forthcoming LP under the Mello Music Group label.
The title is taken from the languages spoken by the Nguni people and means everything in English and it's a celebration of having aspirations regardless of your background. From the pulsating Rhodes riff, warm basslines, and neck-snapping boom-bap styled drums, the track opens up with an honest declaration "I want 10 days in Ibiza, I want 10 days in Peru(Ru) I want to have my cake, but I want to eat it too(Too)" sung by Manana with Modiga who both play off each other's melodies. The track is quite catchy and the message being passed even makes it more appealing to a worldwide audience.
The colorful video is brought to us courtesy of director Harry Delgas who makes good use of the lighthearted nature and positive theme of the song. He ensures to tap into the diverse backgrounds of the members of the group with different costumes, colorful set pieces, and vibrant motifs that play into the aspirational theme.
