Emerging Tokyo-based Korean singer Michel Ko blends a nice dose of K-pop with R&B on his single "Deja Vu" and it's vibrant accompanying visual. Teaming with producer KRICK who gifts Ko with a mid-tempo lush guitar-driven backdrop, Ko delivers a bilingual performance rife with catchy melodies.
The young singer pours his emotions on wax as he reflects on a relationship that is stuck in the proverbial hamster's wheel. His way of delivering his lines is effortless and the subtle way he switches between English and the Korean language is what strikes me the most. He and his A&R team are sure going for gold with the multicultural approach that everyone can rock to.
For the visual, he teams up with director/editor Timothy Huang who makes use of the song's mellow groove and mood to bring it to life. From the synchronized choreography, toned down costumes, and set pieces, the video does much in bringing Ko's boy next door image to the forefront.
"Deja Vu" is the lead single from Michel Ko's debut 5 track EP Bleu. Ko is also a member of the newly-formed creative group Solgasa consisting of rapper Wez Atlas, Tommi Crane, and the R&B singer and producer VivaOla.
