Kansas City's BLACKSTARKIDS are the latest act to grace Dirty Hit's roster of rising stars. After releasing their album SURF in February, tyfaizon, Deiondre, and TheBabeGabe of BLACKSTARKIDS are back with a new single, "BRITNEY BITCH." The newest release from the spunky trio has landed coveted placements on Spotify's New Music Friday and Lorem playlists.
"BRITNEY BITCH" is somewhat of a 90's baby literacy test – the indie outfit's new single rests comfortably in the cultural niche ruled by bedazzled flip-phones and Canadian tuxedos. "BRITNEY BITCH" is littered with Y2K Easter eggs, from the blingy ringtone instrumental, to lines like "Actually, I wanna be Gwen Stefani / hollaback at the boys, no doubt they'll be on me." The song's title even makes reference to Britney Spears' iconic tagline, "it's Britney, bitch," which first appeared on her 2007 track "Gimme More."
The accompanying visual stays true to the nostalgic nature of the track. Dripping in the flashy tones of hot pink and tie-dye, the "BRITNEY BITCH" music video follows TheBabeGabe, tyfaizon, and Deiondre as they parade the streets in overalls and silly glasses.
"BRITNEY BITCH" is the first single off of BLACKSTARKIDS' forthcoming debut album, Whatever, Man.
