Miami rapper, Smokepurpp has released a new music video for "Ends," his track with Young Nudy from this year's Florida Jit LP. One of the stand-out cuts from the project, "Ends" features a prominent Transylvania pan-flute synth floating over cloud-rap, blown-out 808's. Eerie vibes invite posturing and gun-talk: Young Nudy croons between caffeinated Purpp hooks.
Purpp's punk rock appreciation for shock value is at center stage in the two-minute music video-turned-slasher-flick created for "Ends." Dim, red backlighting along with sinister Ronny J and Tupun & Rico collaborative production set the tone as Purpp and Nudy pose with chainsaws and blood-drench vampire ladies. Previous Audis are traded out for a Porsche that "came with a tek," as the two trade slick verses in the quick, high energy summer moment.
Purpp began feeling his way through the music industry by selling beats online, pushing Lil Pump to begin his career, and collaborating with other artists at the core of the emergent Florida trap scene like XXXTENTACION and Denzel Curry. His career arch spiked in the spring of 2017, signing a joint venture deal with Alamo Records and Interscope Records, finding viral success with "Audi," and announcing his debut commercial offering, Deadstar.
Through the rise of his home state's surge in global relevance, Purpp has used his punk rock influences to distinguish himself from his peers, notably shaping both his persona and artistic direction as seen in Deadstar's GG Allin tribute cover art and the Nirvana inspiration for the cover of Deadstar 2.
"Ends" and the rest of Florida Jit are available now.
