Emerging UK singer Leah Music makes her debut on EARMILK with "A Letter to the World." The track was written in response to the tragic killing of George Floyd by a US police officer, and the subsequent protests and injustice surrounding racial discrimination within society.
At just 16, Leah Music sure sounds streets ahead of her peers as she eloquently expresses her candid thoughts on the issue of racism and police brutality over a melancholic piano-driven backdrop courtesy of producer Gavin Johnson. On the track, she asks "…give us all the reasons, so that we can help you out/ and tell me all the questions and I don't have any doubts…" and continues to probe the overly intrusive tactics of the system.
"A Letter To The World" is accompanied by director Mass Ndow-Njie's emotion-laden video visuals that explore the difficulties faced in the current climate. From live protests, old footage of MLK to the reenactment of overzealous cops carrying out unwarranted arrests, the video sure gives a lot to unpack in just 3minutes.
Proceeds from the sales of "A Letter to the World" will be donated to causes supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, Leah also intends to raise £10,000 with her exceptional debut. Get it on Spotify.
