UK singer-songwriter Ava Lily returns with her new glittering single "Blameless" and it's a quick sugary 2 minute hit of incredibly lush alt-R&B.
Drenched in lush minimalistic rhythms, with steady, modified beats, the single pushes Lily's vocals to the forefront and my gosh is it a heavenly result. Refusing to return to old habits and allow herself to be messed about by fuckboys, "Blameless" showcases Lily's maturity of moving on and knowing her self-worth. And for that, we Stan.
"For me 'Blameless' feels empowering," explains Lily. "I literally woke up in the night to loads of texts from an ex and was overwhelmed by this feeling of comfort just being alone. It was the first time I didn't need him, or anyone. It was a beautiful realisation. It felt like it was the first time I had a choice… like yeah, I could go back there but it kinda feels nicer to not fuck myself over again this time. I'm making friends with myself. It was a powerful moment."
Closing with a bittersweet Killing-Eve-vibe "fuck off baby", Lily shows that her blunt songwriting skills are effusively grand. Perfecting the ultimate alr-R&B single, I for one can't wait to hear more from this Bristolian.
