Casey Conroy's January release "Best Shoes" gets a remix from COASTCITY and a sweet family-directed video to match.
Casey Conroy's "Best Shoes" couldn't feel more relevant right now, it's about picking yourself back up after being knocked down one too many times. "I wanted to call my mom and tell her I was hurting," Conroy says. "'Best Shoes' is that conversation I had, sitting at the end of her bed, telling her what was wrong."
When you add Caribbean-soul duo COASTCITY the track gets an entirely different feel, but the core of the song — vulnerability — is still there. The song is amplified by Spanglish lyrics and a soulful live organ that perfectly intertwines with Conroy's deeply-personal lyrics and expressive delivery.
In the accompanying video, directed by the artists and their families, we see life-at-home with each artist's family. It's the perfect view of a DIY video. It creates a feeling of comfort and togetherness that everyone seems to be lacking right now. It's like all the feelings of discouragement will leave eventually, you have to surround yourself with people who support you and learn how to keep going, even when it seems like you can't anymore.
Casey Conroy started her career in 2019, and the Orlando-native has been redefining what it means to be a modern pop-artist, the core of her music is in its sincerity. She continues to work towards her debut album with collaborator Willy Colon, known for his work with Luis Fonsi and Yandel.
