Emerging self-styled alternative rapper Dylan Owen makes his debut on EARMILK as he releases his new track "Bruises." The single is inspired by real-life trauma addresses hitting rock bottom with an introspective story on self-abuse and loneliness. Owen recruits the assistance of fellow rapper Abhi The Nomad who gives his own perspective on the matter. Backed by a solemn piano-led backdrop both emcees show the listeners their bruises with heartfelt lyrics without sugarcoating anything.
“The mood of "Bruises" is like a day where it's permanently pouring rain, and a shield of gray permeates everything you see in the world,” shares Owen via email. He goes on to say “I wrote this song early on a Saturday morning in New York City where it was just like that. It had been a rough week after a big business meeting about my music turned out to be a major letdown. I wanted to take things into my own hands, just recording in my bedroom with nothing but my microphone and the beats on my computer.” The song is also inspired by the current pandemic affecting the world. The Coronavirus has forced the world into isolation and left the country in financial ruins with record-breaking statistics.
"Bruises" follows Owen's successful 2019 album Holes In Our Stories featuring stylish guest appearances by Regina Zaremba, Louka, and Aidan Cooper.
