Rising indie pop singer Rence has been consistent with the high quality of his music since EARMILK spoke with him 7 months ago. At the time, he was releasing his debut EP Fall 2019, and now he is back with his third new single since.
"Tears in December" is a catchy pop song produced by Valentin Fritz and Peter Fenn, who crafted an instrumental that revs up to put the chorus on a pedestal. The song is all about Rence's December 2019 move from New York to Los Angeles that didn't go how he expected.
“I thought I needed to leave my old home (and person) behind to start fresh in an exciting new city, but once I got here I realized pretty quickly that I was wrong. This song is that realization," Rence said.
It's confessional, but – more than anything – shows an incredible amount of personal growth in penning such a sincerely reflective song. "Tears in December" seems like it had to be made, and listeners should be glad it was.
