Anyone who can’t get enough of the old-school soul goodness that comes out of Daptone Records should get excited because the founder of the Brooklyn label Bosco Mann has just launched a new imprint called Penrose Records. Based in Mann’s hometown of Riverside, California, the new label already has a formidable roster of up-and-coming talent and with their first release, they are offering singles from five different artists. Included in the digital EP, which will also be released as individual 45s, is the track “Can I Call You Rose?” from the San Diego trio Thee Sacred Souls.

“Can I Call You Rose?” may be the young group’s first release, but they show the musicality and talent of long-time veterans. The track is an earnest, whirling ballad in which vocalist Josh Lane croons with refreshing earnestness that will have a lasting effect on listeners. Multi-instrumentalists Alex Garcia and Sal Samano round out the core sound with warm, delicate delivery in the arrangement. The heartwarming track suggests a promising future for Thee Sacred Souls and signifies a memorable introduction to the world for Penrose Records.

"Can I Call You Rose" is available to stream or download here.

Presenting Penrose Records is available to stream or download as well as pre-order vinyl 45s here. The 45s are scheduled to come out June 19.
