Production and songwriting duo Marian Hill has released their latest EP, was it not. Following the release of the eponymous lead single, this is the first time they've gone with an EP since their 2015 debut Sway. It also follows the release of two albums via Republic Records, with was it not marking a new era for the duo as they self release the project.

When Marian Hill's track "Down" defined "bursting onto the scene" in 2017, when it was included in a viral Apple commercial. Joining the pool that now includes the likes of Yael Naim's "New Soul" and ODESZA's "Line of Sight," the Philadelphia-bred, New York City-based duo had a unique opportunity to jump on. Instead of letting the pressure of a stellar follow up get to them, Jeremy Lloyd and Samantha Gongol kept doing what they were doing, building a brand of stand out electronic meets pop music. was it not continues that journey, but opens a new phase of more minimal tracks with a new depth that didn't seem possible until now.

was it not's six tracks are defining Marian Hill's current moment, and it comes through loud and clear.
