Taking the next step in furthering her career, UK techno talent BEC launches her eponymous imprint. After establishing herself on a myriad of infamous labels, the producer ignites her sound with BEC 001. The result is a compilation of four dark, driving tracks that clearly defines the values of BEC.
"Downward Spiral" opens the compilation with unwavering defiance, hammering drums and glitchy claps. These claps tread through pulsing synths, resulting in a beat laden with dark disposition. Reverbs off haunting vocals add to the unsettling atmosphere, further defining the shadowy space BEC commands. Following with drops of acidic energy, "Maximal Minimal" is brilliant in its rubbery groove, warped synths and bubbling drums. The track effortlessly fuses into a funk, which dances in between all the sub-genres of techno—intrinsically refreshing and unique. On the other hand, "Time Illusion" sees the producer jump back into a harder-hitting warehouse number, robust drums incessantly pounding away amidst the urgent pads and foreboding tension for a true techno assault. Finally, "Some Feelings" presents a more dubbed ambiance, led by powering synths and modulated hypnotism.
BEC's technical skill both in the DJ booth and the studio is no small feat, having served up electrifying sets of techno everywhere from Burning Man to Tobacco Dock to CRSSD Festival, as well as serving up forward looking techno tunes that have gotten high profile support from the likes of Adam Beyer, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox and Pan-Pot to name a few. BEC has upcoming gigs at Awakenings, Piknic Electronik Melbourne, and returned tours scheduled to North and South America. 2020 looks set to be an exciting year for the Berlin based star.
