November 2019 seems like a generation away from today. In reality, it's only been a few months since LA production duo Mont Blvck released their debut original EP Lost Tapes via their own imprint (alongside Anabel Englund and other Gari Safari members), Gari Recs. Now this week, the EP gets a re-up that contains the memorable five tracks, with remixes from Dennis De Laat, Matt Ossentjuk and Lee Curtiss. Here at EARMILK, we have first listens to remixes from Tâches and Dance Spirit.
Tâches was born and raised in a hotbed of house music's spirit on the Spanish island of Mallorca, along with a notable command of mood and melody. He brings that subtlety to "Forget," accented with acidic funky bass sampling and atmospheric production.
These remixes see duos meeting duos, with fellow Los Angeles duo Dance Spirit taking the reigns on "Before the Day Ends." Transforming the track into a more minimal experience, friends Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius shift our focus to an impressively emotive rhythm and progression as vocals and percussion lead our way through the listen.
The remixes from Lost Tapes are out tomorrow, March 13.
