Jill Andrews’ upcoming album Thirties will be her first full-length solo release in almost five years. It documents the last decade of her life: the harsh, the honest, the amazing, the sad, and the beautiful feelings that come with raising family, growing yourself, and living the stories of a woman. Today, EARMILK is happy to premiere the latest single from this collection “The Kids Are Growing Up”.
The Nashville-based artist has accompanied numerous musicians such as The Avett Brothers, the Secret Sisters, and Drew Holcomb. She co-produced Thirties which features notable songwriters such as Natalie Hemby, Lucas Morton, and Ian Fitchuk. With a long history in Nashville already behind her, Andrews dives deeply into her personal story. A theme she writes about in this project is motherhood. “The Kids Are Growing Up” is a medium-paced, wholesome depiction of desperately wanting to hold onto moments that are slipping away too quickly. She asks in the second verse “how can we stop them baby?” – if only it was that easy. This song is all about living in the most perfect of time capsules for longer than you have. Trying to make the best of times last. I’m not a mother myself, but I’m confident my own Mom would identify with this soft plea for time to return to her, and she wouldn't be the only one. This latest single talks about just one chapter, one feeling, one moment of Andrew’s past decade. As beautiful as it is, I’m eager to understand her journey through experiencing the entirety of Thirties when it drops March 27th.
Jill Andrews will release her book Thirties: The Album in Portrait and Prose along with the album, which documents the LP through essays and photographs.
