Washington DC-based Afro fusion musician Gogowé gets down to the crux of the issue on her new rhythm-heavy single titled "Wanna Be Somebody." She takes a slice of all the good stuff from highlife, Afropop, and some soul to make this effort stand out. The soft-voiced singer doesn't shy away from her West African roots and delivers the melodies in standard pidgin English and even switched it up with some Spanish in the refrain. A student of keeping it true, she lets the naysayers know from the jump that she is following her dreams boldly and unapologetically.
"Wanna Be Somebody" is the follow-up record to her AYLØ assisted single "Funmilayo", both tracks are taken from her forthcoming debut EP 'Je M'apelle Gogowé', which is due for release later this year.
