Los Angeles based producer Jace Mek sets up evocative expectations with his latest bass house release "Lust," featuring Inconnue and out now via Thrive Music. Just in time for Valentine's day, the dark, chunky energy here is professing digital intimacies.
Jace Mek shares that the cut was born the night when he played his "first techno warehouse set in September of 2019." Taking inspirations from techno and house, and meshing the prime characters of both, "Lust" stands out with its overall minimal yet delicate aesthetic. It starts things off with a slow-burning ominous build, melding bouncy percussions with grainy textures. Inconnue's sultry vocal comes in and collides with the unfettered murky atmosphere — the raw chemical reactions here visualize the vivid soundscape, bringing in images of arrays of blood-red lasers cutting lines across a sea of sweat-soaked bodies in the darkest warehouse.
