As a recent signee to Brownswood Recordings, Forest Law has wasted no time in releasing his first single with the London-based label: an Afrobeat banger called “New Thoughts New Eyes.” The Essex native fits right in with the label’s eclectic roster of talent with an impressive display of danceable rhythms, intricate instrumental arranging, and stylish vocals.

“New Thoughts New Eyes” showcases some masterful musicianship from Law, most notably in the track’s extended introduction that sets the stage with an infectious groove full of bright guitar chords and slowly building synth pads. With vocal lines that enter the mix after two minutes of music, Law puts a premium on patience as the instruments simmer in the groove, allowing listeners to get lost in the soundscapes. Law’s understated vocals provide a welcome contrast to the instrumentals with sparse melodies that provide an added sonic dimension. Brownswood has been the home to numerous fantastic releases over the years, and “New Thoughts New Eyes” shows that Forest Law is more than ready to join their ranks.

"New Thoughts New Eyes" is available to download via Bandcamp.
