Techno maestro Maceo Plex returns with his first Drumcode EP, Destination Mars, in five years. Debuted at Time Warp's mammoth 25th-anniversary party in April, the cosmic three-tracker is backed by remixes from Raxon and Shall Ocin.
Propelled by crunchy drumlines and rugged basslines, "Destination Mars" is a proper ode for the darkest warehouse. Adding to the ferocity is its celestial main motif. However, the breathy vocal accents and hypnotizing vocal lead, coming from Josh Wink no less, add a dose of intimacies — creating the perfect yin and yang. Raxon accentuates the cosmic theme even more, as the multi-dimensional synth work and hypnotizing vocal effect reverberate throughout with a spiritual incline. Shall Ocin deploys sublime pads and ethereal atmospheric sounds, delivering melodic allure.
The last Drumcode release from Plex is the hugely popular Conjure Infinity EP in 2014. Despite this, 2018 saw Plex laying down multiple memorable B2B sets with the label boss Adam Beyer at Warehouse Project, Ultra Music Festival, and more, cementing their tight musical bond.
