Jay Clarke is a British DJ, producer, and label owner who has spent the last few years jumping from strength to strength. His latest release, Klockworks 28, on the mighty Klockworks label, pays homage to his talent as a producer.
No stranger to Ben Klock’s label, Klockworks 28 is Clarke’s second solo release on the label; although he did contribute “Perdita” to the Klockworks 20 compilation. Consisting of four tracks, Clarke continues his run of bringing fresh and exciting sounds to the scene. The well-rounded 12” carries a blend of 'tough modern rollers, dreamy Detroit melodies, and mysterious atmospheres'.
Each track has a distinctly Klockworks feel to it, with the 134-140 BMP tracks consistently maintaining the groove that Klockworks' releases are renowned for. Each track on the release, from the A1 “Visualize” to the final track “The Right Time” keep the classiness that makes this style of techno so easy to listen to. “The Cage” ramps things up a bit, without being too in-your-face; it’s a 5am banger that gives you the energy to keep dancing.
“In Dreams” is a track which sustains it’s rolling nature, with the added delight of a few electro-propelled elements over the top. With a love for music that started with drum ‘n bass and expanded to techno, it’s no surprise that Clarke’s productions are both experimental and inspiring. Resident Advisor noted that Clarke “has taken it very steady, maintaining a measured approach to his release schedule, preferring to be patient”; releases such as Klockworks 28 make it completely worth the wait. Clarke was welcomed as a Fabric resident for good reason; there are no doubts that there’s plenty more to come along the way.
Due for release on December 6th, Klockworks 28 is available to order from here, and snippets of each track can be streamed via Soundcloud.
