In less than one week's time, German techno festival brand Time Warp prepares to make its' first USA experience in five years a reality. Time Warp USA will make its' return across two days of world class techno talent at the 6,000 capacity New York Expo Center in the Bronx this November 22nd & 23rd. Known for their high degree of detail invested in both production and sound, the globetrotting event is marked on every techno-loving Brooklynites' calendar. Alongside locals, those out-of-region will be traveling to New York just to experience the elusive event before yet another five years must pass before hope of a next. The festival makes its' domestic return in celebration of 25 years since its' initial German conception, where they've already triumphed their annual flagship event in Germany.
The lineup announcements took USA techno buffs aback when boasting Friday billings for Amelie Lens, Mind Against, Pan Pot, Richie Hawtin, Enzo Siragusa, Joseph Capriati, a live performance from Reinier Zonneveld, Ricardo Villalobos and Sonja Moonear. Saturday's talent pool swims elite with Avision, Denis Sulta, Loco Dice, Maceo Plex, Mink, Nina Kraviz, Palms Trax, Peggy Gou and Sven Väth conducting the second evening's soundtrack through time, space and percussive rhythm.

EARMILK: Whose set at Time Warp USA are you most excited for, other than your own?
Avision: I would have to say Maceo Plex as he’s been playing a few of my tracks. He always knows how to bring it properly on a big stage, and I’ve always idolized his production. Another artist I would like to check out is Peggy Gou as I haven’t had the chance to hear her live yet, and last I have to check Sven as he’s just an ultimate legend.
EM: How does this mix reflect what fans can expect from your set on Saturday?
A: This mix I tried to give a little taste of what I will be playing on Saturday. There’s some deep/trippy, yet groovy and driving tracks that I felt would be a good preview to the big day.
EM: Who are your dream collaborators and do you have any upcoming collaborations that you're excited about?
A: Being from New York, and having Victor Calderone as a mentor, it has always been a goal to work on music with him. I’m happy to announce we have been working on a lot of music together and I’m excited to see where it will go. A dream collaborator that I would love to sit in the studio with would be someone like Robert Hood. Robert is a true legend and I’ve always respected his sound, it’s always proper and true to him. He’s one artist that can do it all from chunky disco samples to proper techno.
EM: New York is a cultural hub for techno in the United States – tell me about how the city has contributed to your rising career and who has been instrumental along the way in the New York scene?
A: New York has contributed immensely, from being able to go in to clubs that I was too young to get into, to playing clubs my parents needed to sign a waiver for. I’ve been able to learn how a DJ should play in a club, or festival and I’ve learned how to properly warm up a room. Having those experiences at such a young age is what helped to build my sound as an artist. A few people who have been instrumental are my management, Victor Calderone, Teksupport, label bosses like Kareem Cali, all of the promoters who have let me into their parties, my friends who were older than me bringing me out. All of them have played a part, and I’m extremely grateful for it.
EM: Who is your biggest influence and what exactly have they contributed to shape your signature sound?
A: My biggest influence in production is Quincy Jones. Although he’s not a DJ I’ve learned so much by listening to the music he has written/produced. I’ve learned how to let a record breathe, and let the parts do the work. I love how you can hear such little things in the background of his music and how each part makes a difference on the overall record. Quincy is the top for me, and is one of my idols. I’ve learned and shaped my sound just from that, I think having balance in my music is what is working for me. I like keeping that NY groove and being able to remain relevant to the form of techno. Listening to Quincy over the years has brought me so much knowledge into this field, and has taught me how to work my parts for the listener to remain dancing and interested.
EM: Which Time Warp USA artist do you find the most influential?
A: That’s a tough question, they are all influential in their own way. I personally think Maceo Plex over the last decade has developed his own niche/sound, and has really been a huge influence for the next generation of ravers and artists.
EM: What do you have in the pipeline for the balance of 2019 and beyond?
A: For the remainder of 2019, I have a new EP coming on Teksupport Records which is looking to be a big one, it seems like everyone has been supporting it early! I finish the year off with a few more shows, one being back in New York to play with Illario Allicante and the Teksupport Crew.
