This time of year, I’m always looking for a slower melody that matches the pensive atmosphere of the changing seasons. I can’t think of a better song to stare out a rain speckled window to than Brooklyn Doran’s newest single “I Can’t Be Alone With You”. This first listen of the lead track off of her upcoming album presents the Toronto artist's aching vocals, dripping with solemn emotion and texture.
Her first release in three years, Doran's single paints a picture of a singer-songwriter that understands the power of a sad love song. An ill-fated relationship is forever a topic that is sure to tug at the heart, and Doran’s vocals tie this package together with a neat bow; the outcome is a beautifully melancholy sound perfect for a late-autumn playlist. I am looking forward to an LP that can have the same effect.
