Turnover’s “Parties” is a dream-pop single to ease your social anxiety

The Virginia Beach-based indie outfit Turnover arrive with their third single “Parties,” off their forthcoming LP, Altogether. Produced by longtime collaborator Will Yip, the trio have been offering new music that exceeds their dream-pop sensibilities. “Parties” heads down a soothing road laced with lithe guitars, sensitive vocals, wiry basslines, and elastic drums.

The latest single follows the group’s dual singles, “Much After Feeling” and “Plant Sugar,” released in early September. “Parties” navigates through a narrative about anxiety and trepidation within collective settings. The lyrics juxtaposed with the sonic choices of celestial productions allow for one to find alleviation in the severest of social environments.

Singer-guitarist Austin Getz explains this of “Parties,” “There’s a part in that song where the tone completely changes, and that represents the moment when your walls finally come down and you start to just appreciate where you are. The lyrics go from describing the nervousness you feel in a particular moment to just describing the moment itself because you’re finally out of your head and able to recognize the beauty that’s all around you.”

Turnover is comprised of Austin Getz, Casey Getz, and Danny Dempsey. Their fourth LP Altogether follows 2017’s Good Nature and will be released on November 1st via Run For Cover Records. The band will play next month’s Tropicalia Festival in Los Angeles followed by a full US tour kicking off a few days later with Men I Trust and Renata Zeiguer supporting.
