Bedroom-pop artist Matt Messore, better known as Cathedral Bells, returns with his second single “Heavy Rain” since the release of his self-titled debut EP earlier this year. “Heavy Rain” follows the previous single “Eighth Wonder of the World” and finds the Cassadaga, Florida-based DIY musician on a stunning sonic crossroad between the present and the past. “Heavy Rain functions as a glimpse of Cathedral Bells’ forthcoming debut LP.
“Heavy Rain” is a beatific track caught somewhere between the place of who you were and who you want to become. Sonically akin to acts like Wild Nothing, DIIV, and Foxes in Fiction, the song ascends through blithe guitars, airy basslines, and soothing vocals. The three and a half minute endeavor glides gently above the strong currents of life obliging to one’s mental and emotional needs. It’s a slice of shoegaze paradise and evokes this sentiment of 'could you believe in heaven, if heaven was all you had'? “Sometimes loneliness can feel like it’s raining down on you and there’s such a storm of emotion, you wonder if anyone can understand," Messore explains.
Cathedral Bells is prepping his debut LP for an early 2020 release via Good Eye Records, who also released his debut EP back in February.
