Irish-born artist CROOK’s new single “oh, cool” has a similar sound to the newly arisen bedroom-pop genre even though it is studio born. There is a simple yet alluring guitar riff mixed with an early 2000's pop sound; matching the newer artist's voice perfectly.
The song outlines the feeling of anxiety. Written during a time when he dealt with panic attacks, CROOK wrote the song to outshine those moments. In his words, “something that could burst through even my own thick head and get me to wake the fuck up.” With an almost accepting and darker tone, the first lyrics “Oh cool, I guess I’m crying on this train” portray how routine this feeling can seem – a feeling many can relate to. Now based in Berlin, CROOK has two EP releases under his belt, and “oh, cool” hints at what we can expect from him in the future.
