Don’t look now, but there’s an up-and-coming vocalist named Siaira Shawn who appears ready to take off. The San Francisco native has gained some traction in the industry with singles like “Wait For It” and “Wrong Speed,” the latter of which was featured on HBO’s Insecure, and now she has released a new EP of music via Over Everything simply titled Tender. The project finds Shawn joining with executive producer Mars Today to create seven tracks of abundantly original music that showcases Shawn’s irresistible, silky vocal delivery and progressive sonic aesthetic.

Tender immediately grabs the audience’s attention with the bass-driven opener “Wolf,” which finds Shawn singing about a complex relationship amid a subtly funky groove with colorful, swirling synth pads in the hooks. Other standout tracks include the captivating ethereal second track “Islands,” the thumping banger “Little Bit,” and the powerful finale “No Halos.” Mars Today’s intricate and unpredictable production style proves to be an ideal setting for Shawn’s elastic vocal delivery. With sophisticated songwriting, expert execution, and an undeniably fresh sound, Tender shows that Siaira Shawn’s future is extremely bright.

Tender is available to stream or download here.
