Surging electronic young gun Tisoki has arrived on Dim Mak with Razor Blades, a relentless song-cycle of dubstep daggers that runs roughshod with thunderous bass elements and trailblazing sound design.
Spanning five tracks, the record dips its toes in multiple electronic sub-genres, like midtempo ("Cell Phone") and even future bass ("Don't Lie"). Tisoki did well to experiment with new sounds and approaches, undoubtedly introducing himself to a new lane of admirers while also staying true to his fans seeking the heavy-hitting dubstep treatment. Those elements come in droves here, especially with the project's rip-roaring fourth track, "Suffer," which finds its creator going nuclear with its screeching second drop. Think Eptic meets Franky Nuts.
To say Tisoki "snapped" on this project would be a lie. He has been consistently churning out forward-thinking bass music since 2013, like the wonky complextro tune "Only You," a collaboration with UK compatriot Watgood. Watgood recently made his Dim Mak debut as well on their New Noise imprint; it's fascinating to see career paths grow, intertwine and come full circle like this.
