Brooklyn-based artist Daytona Starsky's latest effort 'Moon' is a 4 track body of work that explores a different side of hip-hop. Leaning towards a more futuristic and somewhat experimental sound, Starsky provides the sonic equivalent of the vibes we all associate with space travel.
The project is filled to the brim with ethereal and dreamy atmospheres which all add the essential element behind Starksy's melody-laced delivery and sing-song style. 'Moon' is an interesting piece that shows the sound of an artist coming into his own and embracing the eccentricities that make his art unique. Starsky’s sound is singular and is thusly indebted to a wide range of influences who range from Andre 3000 to David Bowie.
Starsky's first release was the celestial visuals for the lead single "Space Boy" back in 2018 and that right there laid the foundational steps towards the entire project. The results of his hard work are evident as soon as you hear the EP’s second track, “Vulture Song,” an intergalactic trap banger with infectious vocals.
