It's always incredible when young artists create music to a higher-standard than some top record label signees. Sixteen year-old KIITA recently dropped her fierce new single "Messed Up", and it's some of the best explorative pop I've heard it a while. This track cleverly positions KIITA as a badass in the pop world.
With heavy, whirring bass and rock-led, almost pop-punk guitars, KIITA is redefining what it means to be a pop artist in 2019. This Ohio-based artist is setting the bar high in the pop world. The first single from her second EP ANTHEMOESSA, "Messed Up" is raucously poignant. "I wanted to create a song that not only expresses the feeling of betrayal, but the feeling of satisfaction when karma comes into play", explains KIITA.
Igniting a sense of rowdy rebellion, the ferocity of KIITA's lyricism is way beyond her years. "Messed Up" is a track that provides an alternative to the usual repetitive radio-friendly pop that most of us are bored of hearing. The praise lies with KIITA who is proving that putting your own mark something is key to grabbing the attention of others. It's wild pop but with an intricately alluring demeanour.
