Jackson Whalan and his band are all about the artistry and their new release "Whale" is a prime example of what this six-man band can do.
"Whale" sees the band fusing their individual styles into one smooth, cohesive form, fusing hip-hop, jazz, and soul elements. Helmed by Whalan himself who also provides vocals, "Whale" showcases his off-kilter lyricism ripe with engaging metaphors and wittiness. The concept of the song alludes to the music industry as the ocean and the various mammals in it as artists in the industry.
The visual was shot during the band's recording session adding that live, organic feel to it all. Recorded at Pilot Studios with engineer Will Schillinger and videographer and editor George Cox, the five songs showcase the band’s immense talent. The work is inspired by other successful live bands from Lettuce and Anderson .Paak, to Vulfpeck, FKJ and others who have successfully used the power of live musicianship and the internet to rapidly garner attention. "Whale" is taken from the band's 5 track EP 'Epic Proportions'
